I've heard that the only issues with switching between regular and synthetic is your engine is more likely to leak with synthetic because it does get into places regular oil can't, and it will exploit any bad engine seals.
Other than that, I haven't heard of any real issues. Any effect would at extreme cold temps and this is a miniscule change in viscosity. There is nothing to be accomplished by mixing 0W and 5W. Pop open the hood, twist off the oil filler cap in the counter clockwise direction and pull up the yellow handled oil level dipstick an inch or two out of the engine.
Removing the oil filler cap and pulling up the dipstick will help prevent a vacuum from forming and allow the old oil to drain out more quickly. You may be able to access the drain bolt and oil filter without raising the front of the vehicle. If you'd like some extra room to work under the SUV, raise the front with the floor jack and securely support it with two jack stands or drive the car up on to automotive ramps. The oil filter is located on the side of the oil pan closer to the driver's side of the SUV. Loosen the oil drain bolt by turning it counter clockwise with the 15mm socket and ratcheting wrench. Be careful when you remove the oil drain bolt since the old oil may be hot enough to burn your fingers depending on how long you warmed up the engine.
Allow the old oil to drain out for at least a few minutes or until the flow slows to an occasional drip. Wipe the oil drain bolt and the opening in the oil pan clean with a rag. Spin in the oil drain bolt by hand a few turns in the clockwise direction to prevent it from becoming cross threaded.
Tighten the drain bolt to just past hand tight or about 22 ft-lbs of torque. Spin off the old oil filter in the counter clockwise direction and allow the old oil to drain out for a few minutes.
If the old filter is too tight to turn, use an oil filter wrench to remove it. Can I use 10w30 instead of 5w30?
